Taimi Arvidson tells human stories with heart.

She grew up wild in the mossy woodlands of Oregon as a competitive ski racer in a long lineage of female athletes. If she wasn’t flying down the mountainside, you could find her curled up with a book or sketching whole new worlds. She turned that love of storytelling into a journalism degree first, and then a career in documentary filmmaking.

Taimi has directed numerous award-winning nonfiction films and television series for clients such as Apple, National Geographic, CNN, PBS, Amazon, Netflix, Discovery Channel, and more. She’s been making documentaries for 15+ years, telling stories everywhere from climate scientists on the Greenland Ice Sheet to rocket launces in Florida to refugee camps in Bangladesh. She once even directed Grover from Sesame Street.

She especially prides herself on emotional character studies and authentic vérité scene work that illuminate the universal human experience. She’s always been in love with humans and what makes them tick.

Taimi has also brought her emotional eye to numerous commercial campaigns for clients such as Comcast, Columbia Sportswear, John Deere, Red Wing Shoes, and more. They always have heart.

These days, she lives in the wilds of New York City with her record collection and closet of colorful jumpsuits. She is currently in post-production on her second feature documentary Cheyenne about female rodeo stars and a series for Boardwalk Pictures. You can find her running after a great story (figuratively and literally), reading a book, or dreaming of the slopes.
